I have the same problem: What do do in the low season. Well, I go cycling every other day for 45 minutes to an hour. Then I weight lift. On the other days I run, and then weight lifts. With the running and cycling, it keeps you in shape for swimming. When you start again, you are as you think are really out of shape, but you are just using different muscles. Nor do the workouts like crunches, leg lifts and then v-sit, pike and bicycles. If you strengthen your abdominal muscles, you will become faster, and improve your times.
