  • Gambling in New Jersey

The state of New Jersey is situated in the North Eastern, Mid Atlantic region of the United States. Bordered in the East by the Atlantic Ocean, and the states of Delaware and Pennsylvania, it also shares it border with New York State, and parts of New Jersey have expanded and merged with both the suburbs of New York and the city of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
Popularly known as New Jerseyites, the citizens of the state number almost nine million, New Jersey is small in land mass, but is a very wealthy state, with its per capita income being second highest in all of the United States. The average New Jerseyite earns 25% more than his counterpart anywhere else on the continent.
This means that they have money to burn, and this they do in the famous casinos of Atlantic City. More than thirty years ago, New Jersey state legislation approved the legalization of gambling in the state in 1976.Since that time Atlantic City has become the center of casino gambling on the East Coast, and a Mecca for gamblers from all over the World. The famous entrepreneur and property developer Donald
Trump, was one of the principal movers and shakers in the birth of the casino industry around Atlantic City which began more than thirty years ago. It is a well known fact that the profits from the three major casinos that he established in the early days of casino gambling, helped to keep his property empire afloat in the nineteen eighties when they fell into financial difficulties,
Since the powers that be legalized gambling, the wisdom of their decision is there to be seen by all. The Pacific Coastline around Atlantic City is lit up like a beacon 24/7 every day of the year. Americans love to gamble and there is no finer evidence of that fact than the success of Atlantic City, The money that constantly flows into the state and the jobs that the industry has created runs into fabulous proportions.
And what does the New Jerseyite get out of it, as well as the people who come from out of state to enjoy the live casino experience? They get the best of luxurious action, all the best table games, a veritable ocean of slots, and all that is fine in wining, dining and entertainment. For New Jerseyites who still prefer their gambling in a quieter setting then Internet wagering has become an alternative and an attractive on over the last few years. People have discovered that it is possible to wager where you want and when you want, in your own home.
However for those who like, even for once in a while, to taste, touch and smell live casino action there are now some very famous landmarks reaching up towards the New Jersey skyline that are indeed worth a visit. They include: The famous Trump Plaza, which was one of the first Atlantic City casinos. A thirty one storey tower recently converted into a hotel with a huge penthouse setting for the casino. Players can enjoy their gambling day and night whilst enjoying a view spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. The Tropicana is also another landmark of the city’s casino culture, with its mixture of casino, night clubs, restaurants and even boutiques. The New Jersey gambling culture sees entertainment as being a focal point of the state and works hard to maintain that image. They want people to come to Atlantic City not just to gamble but to have a really good time doing so.
