Homeowner George Ramirez in West New York, NJ, was in a bit of a dilemma. He had just gone through a divorce. As a result of the divorce, he was planning to sell the house, but now that the real estate market is in a downturn, he wasn’t sure if it was going to sell or not. Listing with a broker was a possibility, but there were repairs needed in the house, and he didn’t have the time nor money to spend to “prepare” the house for sale due to conflicts in his work schedule. He continued to pay the mortgage, but he knew that it was just a matter of time that it would become a financial burden. He knew he had to downsize given his new situation. George needed to make a decision soon as time wasn’t necessarily on his side.
One evening when George was sifting through the real estate classifieds in the newspaper, he came across ads that said “We Buy Houses”. He had glimpsed these ads in the past but never really paid attention to them because he never had the need to look at the real estate section of the classifieds before. “I wonder what this ‘We Buy Houses’ and ‘Sell Your Home Fast’ ads are about?” he thought to himself. Still a bit curious but a bit reluctant to call, he chose the ad with the website address: www.QuickSellYourHouse.com.
QuickSellYourHouse.com is the home of Libertus Enterprises, a real estate investment company in North New Jersey. It is a company that buys, repairs, sells, and leases single and multi-family properties, while working with distressed homeowners to find a win/win solution. Libertus Enterprises has been easing the minds of those affected by the recent crisis in the local real estate market. People who were holding onto their real estate and heading towards financial ruin are being reassured that there is a solution.
George filled out the seller questionnaire form on the website and received a call from a representative the following day. He was pleasantly surprised with how professional and knowledgeable the representative was about people who were in similar situations like him. George sold the house in two weeks, and was able to move on with his life.
Real estate investment companies like the one mentioned above are out to change homeowner’s misconceptions about selling a home in a ‘not too friendly’ market. Even if you may not be facing foreclosure, getting rid of an unattractive property during a market like this can be quite challenging. Real estate investment companies such as Libertus Enterprises can be a great way to get rid of any unwanted property.

The Great Falls of the Passaic River, located just 12 miles from New York City in the city of Paterson, New Jersey, is a not only spectacular natural attraction in the nation’s most populous state, it also gained historical significance in the early stages of the American industrial Revolution by supplying water power to the nation’s first manufacturing center.
The falls now 77 feet high, emerged approximately 13,000 years ago the end of the ice age. As the glaciers ice melted, the Passaic River swelled and rerouted it’s way around the north end of the Watchung Mountains, carving out the spectacular falls from the basalt base.
Early habitation of the surrounding falls began with the native Lenape Indians, followed by Dutch settlers in the in the 17th century.
The Falls also has a place in history with the American Industrial Revolution as one of the nation’s first manufacturing centers that benefited from the falls water source to generate power to run mills that manufactured locomotives, guns, silk, and aircraft engines.
In 1778, after visiting the Falls Alexander Hamilton, first realized the water power potential for industrial development and when he later became the country’s first treasury secretary, he spearheaded the development of the nation’s first planned industrial city.
Two manufactures of prominence, The Rogers Locomotive Works and Colt, where the first Colt .45 revolvers were produced, benefited by the water power from the falls.
The Passaic River is prone to flooding from heavy rainfall or snow-melt, and during those periods of flooding, the Falls is at its best as an awesome sight with the tremendous down pouring of water cascading over the falls.
In the second week of April, 2007, 8 inches of rain drenched the area and produced the “Great Flood” that flowed down the Passaic River and over the Falls.
In 2009, President Barack Obama signed the legislation making The Great Falls and its surrounding 35 acres a National Park. This legislation now provides protection and increased funding to the park.
The Falls is a natural “diamond in the rough” and the foundation of America’s economic development. A master plan or design vision has been developed for the recovery of the Great Falls, the surrounding area, and historical industrial sites, to create and orderly plan to integrate them into one spectacular new public space. This new integrated public park is intended to commemorate the Great Falls and its place in the history of the American Revolution while preserving the viewing and natural beauty of the Great Falls.
The falls can best be viewed from three spots; Hamilton Park on the south, from the bridge down river from the falls, and Overlook Park on the north.
Located across from the Falls, The Great Falls Historic District Cultural Center is a great place to learn about the history and many of the initiatives underway to develop the area.

This day, April 29, 2008, I spot a front page headline in my local New Jersey paper, The Trenton Times that reads: Students kept off ballot: District to explore race factor while rescheduling vote. Our local races for school board took place last week, so I thought this was an aftermath.
I was wrong: It was a story about a high school student government election in Ewing, the town where I live. Seven students, one black and Hispanic, five black and one white, were barred from running in their senior class elections the previous week – and no one told them why. An assistant superintendent told the reporter in an e-mail that the decision to bar the candidates was based on a “procedural review” by the principal. The quote marks are from the assistant superintendent, not me.
Neither the principal nor the faculty advisors for the election offered comment to the paper; the reporter had to rely on an e-mail to one of the parents to get clarification on why her daughter couldn’t run for office. That e-mail from the teachers mentioned that she was ineligible to run because she had not participated in enough class meetings or fund raisers. One teacher later added, according to the mother, that her daughter used foul language when she questioned her ruling on the election.
This appears to be a scene from Election, a Tom Perrotta novel and movie starring Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon where an idealistic teacher deliberately tries to rig a student election and keep the “do it all” girl from winning. Only racism never entered in that movie; it has in the Ewing story, although no one knows for sure.
When I was in high school there were no requirements to run for student government, no need for prior participation in anything at all, only current enrollment. We don’t ask adult politicians to have prior electoral experience, why would it be asked of student leaders who must listen to their teachers?
It would be one thing if the individual students had some serious blots on their records: academic probations, multiple suspensions or incidents where they broke a law and law enforcement became involved. Even concerns about a platform to encourage an illegal act, such as legalization of marijuana are legitimate concerns for parents and teachers. But no evidence of misconduct was brought forward to the students, their parents and the press. That suggests either arrogance or foolishness; you, the reader can make that call.
The combination of “no comments” and ambiguous rules in a public school in New Jersey is scary. Parents and students still consider teachers authority figures, but not authoritarian and divine; there is a huge difference – and parents know it.
Ewing High’s principal is trying to make things right by calling for new senior class elections. However, all of the “no comments” leave this school system open to embarrassment, innuendo, investigation by a state affirmative action agency, and possibly legal action. If an investigation found legitimate rationale for bias, then two teachers and a principal have put their careers at risk over nothing.

Considering a seaside holiday around the NJ shoreline calls for a bit of thought and preparation. First, what type of experience are you in need of, a glitz-and-glamour few days or a peaceful stretch of bliss? Soon as that’s fixed up, what variety of rental will befit you most happily? Will the kids be brought along? A plethora of questions poses itself to the soon-to-be holidaymaker. If you’re searching for a holiday by the seaside packed with fast living and excitement, think about the reputed card-tables and extravagant docks of Atlantic City. Up here, the strum of life and greenbacks never hesitates – vacationing prices around the area are made a fair bit more noticeable than the mean. The relatives aiming to set out on a New Jerseyholiday might like to check out Avalon, with a reputation for its child friendly diversions and untroubled waterfront atmosphere, or maybe even one of a fair few tiny settlements such as Strathmere. You can discover a steady equilibrium in between the two in Sea Isle City, along the east shore of Cape May County. The metropolis has gotten a facelift as a luxury hotel district, but costs around here are affordable relative to the other places. The line of beach known as Five-Mile Beach is making a name for itself thanks to its peaceable calm and elemental conditions. Also there’s a spread of things to do like sailing and cruising, along with heritage museums and play-grounds that can satisfy both youthful and not so small. The mainstays of accommodation in Sea-Isle City and most of the other smaller resort villages are self-serviced apartment renting and summertime homes (normally managed by the home’s owners). Costs fall down massively during the off-peak period – the on-peak stretch is in the hot months, specifically July or August. The majority will provide fully serviced furnishings and closeness to the urban hub, but there’s near always a higher charge on water overlooks. Apartments are usually a cheaper avenue, although expansive shoreline houses can be picked out to cater to families and larger groups. No word, nevertheless, can be passed on whether to take the kids.
